Mah Family Style
Mah Jia Quan (Mah Family Style) also known as Bayingquan translates to "Eight Shadow Style" and is a Northern Style of Chinese Martial Arts. All Chinese Martial Arts fit into certain categories of either Miltary, monastic or family styles. Bayingquan is a family style that encorporates a versatile approach to martial studies. The style itself is based heavily on the combative, philospohical and moral teachings of the internal (nei jia) arts of China. Specifically the arts of Iron Palm and Iro. Shirt, 18 lohan Palm. External training is pursued through the use of imitative and other styles such as Drunken Fist, Hungry Tiger Fist, Wing Chun and Praying Mantis. The training for the beginner is based on solid foundations of all the Chinese Martial Arts. Stances, stepping, Qi Gong (Chi Kung), Combat Applications and Weaponry. Beginners learn these foundation through sparring, applications training and traditional forms (routines) practice. These beginner forms include Zha Quan Tan Tui, Dragon Pole, Dancing Staff, Paired Daggers (8 Animal Fist) and Monkey Fist.
